It has been a very busy fall for me with so, so many brilliant writers and exciting books! But as is the way of things, some of the writers I’ve worked with in 2025 have already sent their works off for publication and others will be doing so in the near future… which means there will soon be space in my schedule for new writers and projects.
Do you have a book project that needs a collaborator, either in the form of a coach, an editor, or a co-writer/ghostwriter? Let’s talk!
Projects I’m Interested In
I specialize in nonfiction, working with books intended for general audiences as well as projects destined for academic presses. This includes memoir, creative nonfiction, essay, research-based work, narrative nonfiction, how-to, travel, monographs, self-help, and more.
I also work with some types of fiction: fantasy, science fiction, romance, romantasy, and mystery.
I work with writers at all stages of experience, from those just beginning to think about writing a book to experienced authors with numerous titles already under their belts.
Some of the writers I work with are completely hands-on and want every clause and comma to be fully their own. Others are looking for a collaboration partner. Both approaches are valid and valuable ways to end up with completed manuscripts, and each presents unique opportunities for crafting excellent books.
2026 Rates
Book Coaching: For new book coaching clients in 2026, I charge $160 for a 60-minute session. Packages are available for those booking 8 or more sessions and for those seeking 1-on-1 intensives (minimum 10 hours over 5 consecutive days).
In 2026, I am also offering my popular four-session “book blastoff” package that fast-tracks writers from initial concept to an actionable book map and drafting schedule in just four weeks ($580).
Developmental and Substantive Editing: Rates are unchanged from 2025, at $0.07 per word for first-pass edits. There is a reduced rate for second and subsequent editing rounds on the same project.
“Secret Weapon” Collaborative Writing/Editing: Rates for collaborative work are based on the demands of the project, and begin at $4800.
I realize these rates are not affordable for everybody. (Nothing is.) Nevertheless, these rates are at or below industry standards and offer excellent value for money. (US clients: if you make money from your writing, literary services are a tax-deductible business expense.)
Submit A Project Request
I can’t guarantee that I will be able to accept every project, and I also can’t guarantee a timeline at this stage. If you’re interested in working with me, please email HBBliterary@proton.me and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. You can also leave a message via the Substack interface if you’d like.
